How it sells itself

A warranty claim, a supplier recall or a lot about to expire: you need to know which unit or batch went to which order. The app records serial numbers such as IMEI or device IDs, and lot or batch numbers with expiry dates. Assign them from the order page, by phone, or at the Shopify POS till, where a serial can even be recorded as you sell, with no goods-in step.

Serial Trail gives every physical unit a durable serial record. Create or import serial numbers, assign them at fulfillment, scan lifecycle changes, and reconcile the registry against orders and stock. When a product issue appears, define the affected population by serial range, pool, serial list, or product and sold-date window, then preview the exact affected units before you activate.

Key points
  • Scan serials with your phone, no login
  • Lots with quantity and expiry alerts
  • One serial = one order, auto release
  • Warranty & recall search in seconds
  • Create, import, or auto-generate serial numbers and assign them at fulfillment.
  • Recall by serial range, pool, serial list, or product and sold-date window.
  • Validate warranty claims against a real serial, with duplicate and fraud flags.
  • Public serial lookup and QR unit passports, with no buyer or order data exposed.

Where does this comparison’s data come from?
Shoplist crawls Shopify storefronts to detect which apps each store runs, and reads each app’s Shopify App Store listing for reviews, pricing, features and integrations. Store counts are as of Oct 28, 2026 for MT, Oct 13, 2026 for Serial Trail; estimated figures are labeled.

How Shoplist compares apps

Store counts come from Shoplist’s crawl of Shopify storefronts, which detects the apps each store runs; they are as of Oct 28, 2026 for MT, Oct 13, 2026 for Serial Trail. Reviews, ratings, plans, features and integrations come from each app’s Shopify App Store listing. 28-day figures are labeled when estimated, and a figure that is missing or estimated never decides who leads.
