Build a fence from conditions: item is on sale, product tag, collection, vendor, product type, handle, gift card, or subscription line. Point it at every code, at only the codes you name, or at all but those. Write the wording the shopper sees when a code is refused. A Shopify Function does the refusing at checkout. Test a cart in the admin first to see exactly what happens.
