How it sells itself

Gratis gives shoppers a free gift when their cart meets your offer: a minimum spend or a number of items from chosen products or collections, optionally only for tagged or logged-in customers. The gift goes into the cart automatically, is free at checkout, and comes back out with a short note if the cart stops qualifying. Checkout refuses a gift the cart hasn't earned, express checkouts included.

Tidebird runs a gift with purchase on your store. Pick real products as gifts and set up to three minimum spends: shoppers get one gift from the highest tier their cart reaches, and can choose between up to three gifts. A small widget shows how close they are. If the cart drops below the amount, checkout asks the shopper to remove the gift.

Key points
  • Free gift added to the cart automatically once the cart qualifies
  • Trigger on a minimum spend or items from chosen products or collections
  • Limit an offer to logged-in customers or customers with a tag
  • Checkout blocks a free gift the cart hasn't earned, express checkout too
  • Set up to three gift tiers, each with its own minimum spend
  • Let shoppers choose one of up to three gifts in each tier
  • Show progress, the next gift and the shipping goal in one small widget
  • Checkout asks to remove the gift if the cart no longer qualifies

How Shoplist compares apps

Store counts come from Shoplist’s crawl of Shopify storefronts, which detects the apps each store runs; they are as of Oct 27, 2026 for Gratis, Nov 4, 2026 for Tidebird. Reviews, ratings, plans, features and integrations come from each app’s Shopify App Store listing. 28-day figures are labeled when estimated, and a figure that is missing or estimated never decides who leads.
