How it sells itself

Shopify tracks finished products. It does not track the silver wire, coffee beans, fabric or packaging you consume to make them, so makers keep it in a spreadsheet that drifts. Recipe Stock links each product variant to the materials it uses. When an order is paid, those materials come off stock automatically, at the exact quantity your recipe specifies. Decimals are supported, so 2.5 g is 2.5 g.

MakerStocks is for merchants who manufacture what they sell. You record each raw material with what you paid, its alert threshold and expiry date, then build a recipe for every product. Planning a production run reserves the materials, so they cannot be counted twice or sold by mistake. Closing the run deducts them, creates a batch for the finished product and sends the new quantity back to your store.

Key points
  • Automatic material deduction when an order is paid
  • Recipes: map each product variant to the materials it consumes
  • Decimal quantities supported - 2.5 g stays 2.5 g
  • True material cost and margin per variant, from your own prices
  • Track raw materials, batches and expiry dates alongside finished products
  • Build recipes and bills of materials that value every unit you make
  • Reserve materials for a production run so stock cannot be sold twice
  • Get alerted before a material drops below its threshold or expires
