PROS: It is good for stores who need multiple options to extend Shopifys 100 variant option barrier. Support via chat was responsive. Email support was within 24 hours for a response and a few days to implement but they were good overall. CON: If you have hundreds of options in an option set with image swatches, it takes forever for it to sync with Bold's System to update the options on your store - so the spinning icon is on purpose - just wait for it to complete or go and do something else for a few hours. I may still have to use another app for what I need, but it seems to do what it is supposed to but with less options selected. I had 300 then 600 then 1400 and at all stages it takes forever for it to sync. TIP: If you made an option set and it has hundreds of options and then you DUPLICATE that option set - when you update ONE of the option sets (it will update ALL of them, since you duplicated it) This will then take a very long time to update.

UPDATE: Bold Options and Bold Upsell are awesome for both ease of use, performance and customer support. We had tried several other apps prior to finding Bold Options. It gives us the customization and add ons we needed without breaking the bank. It's robust, which typically means that the user interface is difficult. That is not the case with Bold Options. And if you do have a question, the support documentation is great and a friendly person is just a chat away. We are using a pretty robust theme and there was a need for Bold Options to do the install for us. We had a couple of functions of the theme that needed extra love and support was there to give it in a timely manner. In addition, they showed us a couple of things we didn't know about the theme. Pretty awesome! We have engaged with support several times via chat, email and by phone. I really can't say one experience was better than the other because they all were stellar. Prompt, courteous service. A few specifics: 1. Custom Install. When asked how things were going after a couple of days (well within the window set of when install would be complete), my question was answered promptly and courteously. The install itself went smoothly. We then immediately updated to Premium and I reached out to Jade to make sure I had made the request correctly. The install was updated in less than an hour. Lots of love there. 2. Chat. I had an ongoing chat during one day while we were on our own learning curve. Rebecca - I don't think that's the right name - but she was awesome. Helped me get things set correctly. 3. Email. Email support has been great and prompt. I've engaged with Simranjit Singh, Jade, Mona Kundi and Nirav C (and I think one or two more). All have been great, responsive and clear in their communication. 4. Phone. Nirav deserves super kudos for working through our most recent support request having to do with customization of Quick Shop. This is an example of where there was a bit of user error on our part in that we didn't understand what wasn't showing up in our collections based on what was and was not in stock. He showed us the error of our ways, but in a supportive, non-shaming way. We really appreciated that! I find the negative reviews a bit of a head scratcher. There's an ample free trial so I'd say go for it and call on support if you run into anything that seems to not be working for you. ORIGINAL REVIEW: It's only been a few days, but I am blown away by both the app and the support. On install - props go to Jade. He was quick and responsive when we upgraded to premium. Nice, too! I had a support issue on day one with the price not changing based on product options. I'm quite confident user error on my part. Rony on the chat rocked and reached out to one of his peeps, Rick, and they had it fixed immediately. Try the app. Use support. You won't regret it!

Thank you, Rony, Shubneet, Sam!! We updated our website and nothing transferred over and the people at Bold just swooped in and did everything for us! It makes our store flow so much better with the product options and the customer service is super attentive and efficient. 5/5 would recommend!

Update 2019-06-21: Lowering from 2 stars to 1 star. Well, not only did they leave a lot of worthless code slowing down the pageload of my site (they offer in the reply below to log in and remove them if I want), but they have been spamming me since my 2-star review. (I'm just not that into you, guys...) Email #1 from them: "Please don't leave us." Email #2 from them: "Regarding your review..." Email #3 from them: "How are we doing?" ?? A support survey for the message they sent me about the review? Email #4 from them: "Sorry for the delay" ?? Leave me be, please! Then they replied to the review... and I got notified of that response. And.. then they called us about the review! In the call, they didn't address any of my concerns, nor seemed sympathetic. They basically indicated the product direction would never include customizing options based on a user's Shopify variant selection (maybe a new "app" they want to sell eventually so they don't want to enhance this one too much?) All in all-- I spent a lot of money, got negative value (huge waste of my time and some slowdowns) from their app, and then was pretty much harassed by them about leaving a 2-star review, with no desire to improve their product. Before giving up, I swear I went back to the app like 3-4 times over months to give it another try but I just couldn't make it work. Maybe if I sold t-shirts it'd be the bees knees... but anything more complex? Nah, shop around for another addon. Or if you're feeling lonely, leave them a low review and they'll want to talk to you plenty... ----- ORIGINAL REVIEW: They helped me set this up initially and it never worked very well even after. View never ended up showing the total price with options combined, even after they helped. Sounds like they thought they fixed it but it wasn't working in our browsers. Just was too much hassle to bother with them again and I hoped to get around to working with it. In addition, I really needed it to be aware of the selected variant (e.g. if the person chose variant 2, then the options should change conditionally for that item, including maybe adding a different variant to cart if they selected the option). To their credit they were fairly responsive, and told me they didn't support that use-case. But I've paid months of this and never used it because it's a pain to use and never showed up properly. They make money because they've been around for a while but it feels like they're just coasting with this app and not really trying to improve anything. If they gave me any impression they were looking to improve the app. Now I'm going to uninstall it but their uninstall process says "oh, we'll leave a bunch of junk in your liquid files but it should be harmless" rather than having a professional approach to install/uninstall. I recommend shopping really hard for an alternative options app before trying this one.

I have been using the Bold Product Options app for over a year. It’s unbelievable that Shopify doesn’t allow this kind of customization out of the box, but Bold truly unlocks the potential. The app is jam packed with valuable features, and we consistently use it to cross-sell to increase average order value. Even better than the app though is their technical support. The apps are very complex, so inevitably sometimes you will have conflict with different themes. The Bold team has always swiftly addressed our concerns and implemented fixes. We recently had our add to cart button stop working. Discovered after hours at 10PM on a Friday. Got a response from Brenden at midnight saying he would take a call then, and Julian had the code fully fixed by 10AM. Unbelievable customer support. 5****

Tried to make it work on our website and when we checked "automatic install", it broke our theme. Really not cool - hopefully you can fix this ASAP. In the meantime : uninstalled!

After paying for the app I was sent the following from them when asking for a refund due to them not able to work on my particular theme. We are afraid and Sorry to inform you that, it's not possible to answer your question perfectly because we do not have any idea about any third party app or third party theme compatibility. We do not 100% guarantee any App will work on any theme as there are various factors. Such as hundreds of themes and apps are getting released and it is not possible for our team to check if which App works in which of them. Sometimes even in tested themes, some scripts, js errors from the site's existing scripts or other third party plugins, apps may cause issues in the website already which may cause troubles in the App's scripts also. We are really very sorry for all the inconveniences. So please try to understand the limitations. Just remove the App from your store's admin panel's Apps section and the subscription charge will be cancelled automatically.

Terrible app, doesn't even offer a preview of the uploaded photo. Requires "extra customization" for that. You can't install a Bold app without encoutering problems and having to contact support, they are really the worst app company by far. And as if that's not enough, when you uninstall a Bold app from your store, its stays on your site because it's still in the code, so you have to waste even more time with support to get rid of it. Avoid Bold apps like the plague unless you want to waste your time with support and mess up your site's code. Most apps out there install in one click, and you're done. Not Bold apps.

It doesnt work how its supposed to and they have charged me for the service during my trial! I have requested 5 times to tech support that this be fixed and yet they do Nothing! 2 Months I have been waiting for them to fix this and all they do is message you back to say its fixed when you only have to look at my site to see it isnt fixed! They have cost me thousands of £ in lost business! The tech team could not care less! What a joke!!!!!
