I was happy with the free shopify app and they past it to these guys to mess it up! It was working fine for years until these guys had it and i went over 30 orders :-( No warning, just crapped out! Makes me think its time I parted company with Shopify!

Just going to reinforce what many of the other reviews are saying here. Since going from a free app to the extortionate pricing plan earlier this year this app is shocking value. I don't necessarily object to paying at all but our integration of Shopify and Xero now costs more than the Xero subscription itself which is ridiculous. I'm surprised that Bold have been so short-sighted really. You might think that they would be aware that their market here is business owners who will constantly have overhead costs under review and understand what represents value perhaps better than the general consumer. After a couple of years using this app we are now removing it from our store and going with an alternative app (recently released). This will save us more than 50% on what Bold have been charging us to get exactly the same integration.

Great app for our new store, however be warned... this was on a brand new store. Problem 1: On our other store, I'm migrated to Shopify from Pinnacle Cart, importing over 180K orders going back to 2011 as historical data. Then, I enabled this app and orders going back to 2011 (past our xero limit) started trying to export to Xero and the exports showing errors. The instruction from Bold was to move back the Xero limit date so invoices can export. I thought the app would have just import orders from when it was installed going forward, or you could set a date. Now with no bulk 'delete' or 'void' option in Xero, I had to purchase a third party Chrome app to batch void thousands of invoices in 200 invoice batches. Problem 2: The app assumes (and only allows) that all sales should go to one Chart of Account in Xero (you choose which Chart of Account to use). However, we need to be able to assign different product types (General, Subscriptions and Donations) to different Chart of Accounts in Xero. So, every morning I have to spend up to an hour in Xero changing invoice line items to the correct Chart of Account... a real pain.

**UPDATE** Bold contacted me after leaving the review and offered to extend my trial (which I do appreciate). They said they were listening to the feedback and would possibly re-consider their pricing. Unfortunately it looks like they are sticking with the extremely high price they proposed. As I said in my original review (and when I spoke to them on the phone) $20/mo is way to high and they need to reconsider. ** I can certainly understand that Bold need to charge for the integration, but the pricing is much higher than it should be for a relatively straightforward integration. $5/month for a few hundred orders would be much more reasonable than the $20 that they are asking. Bold, please re-consider your pricing!

Started charging us $59.99/month WITHOUT WARNING for last several months and we just noticed it. We were well under their FREE tier...PLUS no invoices had been exported for the last 2 months anyway. They charged even though we were not using their service! Will be cancelling and uninstalling BOLD's Xero integration ASAP.

We noticed something strange about our Shopify invoices coming into Xero, and after doing some digging (and wasting time) we started reading the Bold reviews and realised that they've pulled the rug out from underneath us with no warning, just hopeless. Call me and fix all of the errors you've now created in our Xero file immediately.

Basically what was said in many of the other reviews. The app has always had bugs that were tolerable but the latest stunt pulled by Bold is massively disruptive to my business. Bold have shown they are willing to remove features without any notification or regard for your business. This is not a good partner to work with and they will cause more work than the time they save.

Suddenly I noticed my integration is failing. All this while it was free. There is no announcement or update from Bold to advise that we now need to pay to use this apps. There should be proper communication prior to any changes. I am very unhappy with this.

Terrible. Like so many others we used this as it was part of the shopify/xero set up. Both shopify and Xero still use the integration as a selling point without point out that it's now a paid for add on. And it doesn't work that well. A blatant attempt to hold their customers over a barrel. We left as soon as the charge came.

I already wrote a 1 star review but now I am updating it to continue alerting new users what they are getting into. Not only are we having to pay $60 a month now for these services... But the customer service is HORRIBLE and takes over a week to get ANY assistance (I am still waiting). Meanwhile, I am still waiting for someone to resolve the issues with invoices not being transferred into Xero from Shopify. And my financials are at a standstill because of this. I am going to be looking into changing to another provider ASAP because this is just dumb. And I've been with Xero for 5 years!

Do NOT touch this app with a 10-foot pole... This app has been my worst experience with Shopify by far. I thought, "oh, I use Shopify and Xero, so clearly I need this app, right?" Wrong. This app has done nothing but cause MAJOR trouble in my Xero account. Accounting is already a little bit tricky. What you don't need is an app to completely dismantle the structure of your accounting records and require a PhD in accounting/Xero to fix it. Customer service from both Xero and Bold have been unhelpful, pointing fingers at one another and offering suggestions that don't work. I am completely fed up. My taxes are due in just a few days and right now this app has caused my sales to look like their doubled (artificially inflating my tax liability). I need to eliminate this double-counting ASAP in order to pay the right amount of taxes. I really wish I had never even thought of installing this app. I should have listened to the other reviewers. I'll never make that mistake again! Even Xero bookkeeping firms are telling me to stay away from this app, that it has major problems. I normally like Bold and use some of their other apps. Not this one. Ever. Again.

I would gladly pay the fee IF they had added functionality OR even perfected the app, as it stands this app is full of glitches AND if you sell services (like we do) does not have the capability to sync into multiple sales accounts in Xero, meaning your services will get entered into Merchandies sales account, unless you manually go in and edit EACH invoice (try doing that when you have over 600 invoices per month). DO NOT | DO NOT | DO NOT pay for this app, you will regret it.

Cutting to the point - you don't actually need this app to use Xero successfully with Shopify. Once you've linked your business bank account with Xero, all your expense and revenue data is regularly imported/synced from your bank anyway. So when Shopify pays you out for your sales, it will show up as a credit in Xero and all you have to do is allocate that transaction to 'sales revenue'. Done. This app actually doesn't do anything that Xero doesn't already do. Just trying to get extra money out of newbies who haven't had the chance to figure it out for themselves yet.

This app was ok when it was free, not great, but also better than manually typing in each order we receive. However, BOLD recently introduced fees to use the app for over 20 orders a month. If the app worked well and integrated with Xero better than it currently does/did I might continue to use and thus pay for the app. Unfortunately, there were no improvements made when they introduced the fee structure, so a minimum $20USD for the same mediocre program it was before is ridiculous. Save your money and look elsewhere.

The completely ridiculous pricing structure has been introduced without any notification or communication from the developers. My XERO subscription costs less than this app now does. I don't mind paying for apps that work well and provide a solution within my store, but to go from free to $60USD a month without any notice is absolutely ridiculous.

This application has never worked as advertised from the beginning and was one of the worst applications on shopify to date. Not only does the application emulate failure, but the support team also represent the notion of disappointment. By using this app, our company found that bold created more work for us, than it did making things easy. On top of that, when we queried the support staff about some major issues, they mostly brushed over the main points and simply helped us out with small minor complaints rather than addressing the bigger issue. All in all this experience was very poor and we have no intentions of going back to bold, or of recommending this application to anyone else, as it is not fit for purpose. Unfortunately ratings systems, don't allow you to rate a 0/5, but we are going to do this right here and say, we rate this application a 0/5.

The app is OK - a few bugs here and then, can't complain too much when it was free. The new pricing is ridiculous - more than we pay for either Shopify or Xero - we'll be uninstalling unless this changes.

I am very disappointed at the introduction of these extortionate new pricing plans. Like a lot of small businesses, we rely on our Shopify/Xero integration and the ability to integrate the two apps was a major factor in our decision to use them both. Our store is extremely small with just 2 employees. We process on average 600+ orders a month. By the definition of your apps pricing plans we are an "Enterprise" – tell that to our bank account! – and as a result are expected to pay $59.99 on top of our Shopify and Xero plans for something we were previously getting for free. No improvements. No additional features. No alternatives offered. Nothing. I would consider paying for a fully featured integration that properly handled inventory management, purchase orders, channels, proper sales categorisation etc. But expecting small businesses to pay so much for such a basic and buggy app is ridiculous. Most of Shopify's competitors offer accounting software integrations as standard. We will definitely be exploring alternatives to Shopify going forward. Of course, as Bold is well aware, we have invested a fair amount of resources in our Shopify store. However I would advise anyone considering signing up to Shopify to take another look at the alternatives.
