# Troubleshoot delayed or missing Shopify app alerts

Find the cause of a missing Shoplist alert. Check the inbox, followed app or brand, topic, delivery schedule, email, Slack and webhook connection.

## Start in the inbox. Then check the delivery path.

Open Shoplist’s Unified Inbox and look for the change. If it is there, check the destination’s topic setting, schedule and connection. If it is missing there too, check which app or brand you follow and whether Shoplist has observed the change. This separates a tracking question from an email, Slack or webhook delivery question.

### First check: Unified Inbox

Find the event before changing channel settings.

### Timing control: Topics + timezone

Instant, Daily brief and Weekly follow different schedules.

### Connection check: Test the destination

Use Slack’s test message or the webhook endpoint portal.

## One question splits the problem

Choose an answer to focus the checks. Each path is covered in detail below.

**Is the change in your Unified Inbox?**

### Yes, it’s in the inbox

Shoplist recorded it. Check the delivery path.

1. Topic mode for that channel
2. Brief time, timezone and quiet hours
3. Mailbox filters, Slack test or webhook endpoint test

Next: [Match the change to the right topic](https://shoplist.co/guides/troubleshoot-shopify-app-alerts#check-the-topic)

### No, it’s missing there too

Check what you follow and what Shoplist observed.

1. Notifications view with the All topic
2. An active follow on the right app or brand
3. Latest observed activity and its timestamps

## Find your symptom and take the next step

Keep one example open: the app or brand, the change you expected, and the channel where you expected it. Work down the path once. Changing several preferences together makes it harder to identify what fixed the issue.

Missing alert: where to look first

| What you see | Check first | Next action |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The change is in the inbox, but email is missing | Email toggle, topic mode, quiet hours and mailbox filtering | Check Settings → Notifications, then search your mailbox for Shoplist. |
| The change is in the inbox, but Slack is missing | Slack topic mode and connection | Check Topics, then open the Slack integration and send a test message. |
| The change is missing from the inbox too | Inbox filters, followed entity and observed activity | Select Notifications and All, then inspect the app or brand you follow. |
| Several changes appear in one alert | Market-move rollups and brief delivery | Open the grouped activity and review the underlying changes. |
| Your webhook receiver has no event | Webhook integration and endpoint | Open the Webhooks portal and check the endpoint configuration and test. |

## Check the inbox and the exact thing you follow

In Unified Inbox, select Notifications and the All topic. Clear any search term. If you previously snoozed the item, use Snoozed to find it. Email and Slack settings control delivery to those channels; switching a topic off there does not hide an existing inbox event.

Next, open the app or brand you meant to track and confirm that its follow is active. Following an app tracks that app’s activity across its observed market. Following a brand tracks changes to that brand’s app stack. A saved list is useful for organizing research; it does not by itself replace an active follow or a configured target-list monitor.

If Shoplist has not recorded the expected change, inspect the entity’s latest available activity and data timestamps. A merchant making a change and Shoplist observing it are separate moments. An empty notification view alone does not establish that the merchant made no change.

## Match the change to the right topic

Open Settings → Notifications → Topics. Check the Email and Slack columns independently. A topic can be Instant in one channel and Off in the other.

App changes covers listing, pricing, positioning and capability updates on tracked apps. Market moves covers install activity and momentum, including app-stack additions and removals for followed brands. Your targets covers target-list monitor and relationship alerts. Reviews has its own topic. Checking App changes alone will not explain a missing merchant app-removal alert: check Market moves for that event.

Choose Instant for individual delivery, Daily brief for the daily collection, Weekly for the weekly collection, or Off to stop that topic in the selected channel. These are the cadence controls to check when troubleshooting a specific notification topic.

## Check the schedule before treating a delay as a failure

In Daily brief time, review Brief time and Timezone, then Save changes. Daily briefs use that local schedule; weekly topics are collected for Monday at the brief hour. Shoplist skips an empty brief, so receiving no daily email can simply mean there was nothing to include.

In Quiet hours + pause all, check Pause all notifications and Enable quiet hours. Quiet hours defer deliveries until the window ends. Turn off Pause all notifications when you want delivery to resume, and save any changes.

Instant delivery also has limits that keep a busy market from overwhelming your channels. Repeated entity activity can be grouped, and activity beyond the instant-delivery budget moves into the brief. Review the inbox and next brief when you see fewer individual messages than changes.

### A useful timing example

Suppose an observed pricing change appears in your inbox while quiet hours are active. Its email waits for the delivery window. If that topic is set to Daily brief instead, look for it in the scheduled brief. The inbox event and the message arrival describe different stages of the same flow.

## Check email, Slack or the webhook endpoint

For email, confirm Email is on under Channels, then search your mailbox, spam and filtered folders for Shoplist. Check any mailbox rules that move messages out of the inbox. Keep the specific app or brand name handy when searching.

For Slack, open Settings → Integrations → Slack. Check the workspace connection and resolve any connection warning. Use Send test message and check the destination channel. A successful test confirms the connection can send; check the topic and schedule separately for the real event.

For webhooks, open Settings → Integrations → Webhooks and choose Open portal under Manage endpoints. Check the receiver URL and use the portal’s endpoint test. Shoplist sends notification.created and notification.rollup.updated events; a receiver handling only the first can miss later updates to a grouped activity. Webhooks use their own per-event delivery path rather than the Email and Slack topic matrix.

## Send one clear example when you need help

If these checks do not explain the result, contact Shoplist with the app or brand link, the expected change, your timezone, the channel, and whether the event appears in Unified Inbox. Include the approximate time and the result of a Slack or webhook test if relevant. That gives the team a specific path to investigate.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why is a Shopify app change in Shoplist but missing from email?

Check Email under Channels, the event’s topic mode, Daily brief time, Timezone, Quiet hours + pause all, and mailbox filtering. An inbox event can exist before its channel delivery is due.

### Which topic controls app removals for a brand I follow?

Market moves controls followed-brand app-stack lifecycle activity. App changes controls tracked-app listing, pricing, positioning and capability updates.

### Why did several Shopify app changes arrive together?

App market activity can be grouped into a rollup, and Daily brief or Weekly modes collect events. Instant-delivery limits can also move activity into the brief. Open the grouped item to review its context.

### Does a successful Slack test prove every alert will arrive instantly?

The test checks the Slack connection. A real alert also depends on the followed entity, event topic, channel preference, schedule and quiet hours.

## Keep your next move connected to the signal.

Open Shoplist, check your followed apps and brands, and tune the notifications that drive your next action.
